(FORT WAYNE) – A member of the Indiana State Police has received a promotion.
ISP Superintendent Anthony Scott has announced that Detective Trooper Adam Kitson has been promoted to Sergeant, and will serve as a Squad Sergeant for the Fort Wayne District. Kitson was chosen from a group of candidates who competed in a promotion process that included a written test, oral interview and an overall work performance evaluation.
Kitson is a Steuben County native. He graduated from Prairie Heights High School, then attended and graduated from Trine University. Before becoming an Indiana State Trooper, he worked for the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department and the Fremont Police Department.
In 2018 he graduated from the 78th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was assigned the Toll Road Post. He served there for a year before transferring to the Fort Wayne Post. In 2022, he received a Combat Action Award for his courage in the line of duty as he ended a situation where an armed man was firing at other police officers.
In 2023, he was promoted to detective where he served until this promotion to sergeant. Sgt. Kitson will be responsible for leading a squad of Troopers at the Fort Wayne Post. Kitson is part of the crash reconstruction team, is a defensive tactics instructor, and was a Field Training Officer. He is also the assistant team leader of the north Honor Guard Team.
