(UNDATED) – A three vehicle crash claimed the life of one driver and injured another driver.
The Noble County Sheriff’s Office says at 4:50 PM Monday 70 year old William J. Parker of Grabill had stopped his vehicle in the eastbound lane at the intersection of U.S. 6 and County Road 1200 East, to wait for oncoming traffic so he could make a left turn onto County Road 1200 East.
The preliminary investigation determined that while Parker was waiting to make the turn, he was struck from behind by a pickup being driven by 26 year old Ian Lepley of Waterloo. The impact pushed Miller’s car into the oncoming westbound lane, and was struck by a automobile driven by 26 year old Hudson Burke of Kendallville.
Parker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Burke was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He had a cut to his head and kept going in and out of consciousness.
Lepley was not injured, but was transported to Parkview Noble Hospital for a blood draw. It showed he had no alcohol in his system.
Assisting at the scene were the Kendallville Police and Fire Departments, the Indiana State Police and the Noble County EMS. The crash is still under investigation.
