Tuesday, October 14, 2025

(ELKHART CO) - The Indiana State Board of Animal Health (BOAH) has reported the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza in four more commercial duck flocks. These detections occurred in LaGrange and Elkhart counties.
According to an email notice from BOAH dated October 13, two of the new cases were in LaGrange County. One case involved a commercial breeder duck operation with 3,994 ducks, and the other was a commercial breeder duck developer with 5,755 ducks. A third flock in Elkhart County, with 6,755 commercial meat ducks, also tested positive.
These three presumed positive cases, along with another reported on October 10 involving a flock of 3,500 commercial meat ducks in Elkhart County, have not yet been confirmed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). This follows a previous unconfirmed report on October 9 of avian influenza in a flock of 2,617 duck breeders in LaGrange County. You can get the latest LINKA
