Unemployment Rates Go Up Around Southern Michigan In October

(LANSING) – Unemployment rates went up around Southern Michigan from September to October.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget says St. Joseph County’s unemployment went up from 4.4% to 4.7%.

Branch County saw an increase from 3.8% to 4.2% in their unemployment. Cass County remained at 4.6% while Hillsdale County rose from 4.4% to 4.9%.

Statewide the unemployment rate rose from 4.2% to 4.6%.

Michigan’s regional jobless rates ranged from 3.6% to 5.7% in October.

Wayne Rourke, Labor Market Information Director for the Michigan Center For Data And Analytics says regional labor markets exhibited modest jobless rate advances during October.

The lowest unemployment rate for October in Michigan was Livingston County at 3.2. The largest was Oscoda County which was 7.9%.
