Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January every year to celebrate Dr. King’s birthday, which was January 15th

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a civil rights leader who led the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott, helped organize the 1963 nonviolent protests in Birmingham, Alabama, and helped organize the 1963 March on Washington, where he delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

City, county, state and federal offices are closed.

The U.S. Post offices are also closed. No residential or business deliveries except Holiday Premium/Priority Mail Express.

Many other state, federal, and even some local agencies and business are also closed today for the MLK holiday.
