Two People Injured In Pickup v Semi Crash On Toll Road
Wednesday, July 30, 2025

(ELKHART COUNTY) – A two vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on the Indiana Toll Road sent to people to the hospital.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at 4:15 PM as a semi was exiting the truck lot near mile marker 108 just north of Middlebury. As the semi began to accelerate in the eastbound lanes, a pickup towing an empty boat trailer and carrying a boat, hit the semi from behind.

First responders had to remove the pickup driver, a 39 year old Wisconsin man, from his vehicle. He was flown from the scene to a hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.

The semi driver, a 54 year old man from Taylor, Michigan, was also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Authorities says it’s believed the semi had their hazard lights on at the time of the collision, which is still under investigation.
