(LAGRANGE) – Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the LaGrange County Jail.

Sheriff Tracy Harker says at 2:28 PM on Saturday, a 37 year old man was found unresponsive in a cell at the jail. Life saving measures were taken, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

Assisting deputies were the LaGrange Volunteer Fire Department; the LaGrange Police Department; the Indiana Department Of Natural Resources and Parkview EMS.

Harker says the incident is being investigated by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. More information will be released after the family is notified and once the investigation is complete.
