(MATTESON TOWNSHIP) – Fire damaged a Matteson Township home Wednesday afternoon.
Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber says his department was called to 160 Lyter Road just after 5:30 PM. A motorist saw smoke coming from a two story farm house and called 911.
Firefighters arrived and entered the house where they found heavy smoke. The Colon Fire Department provided mutual aid and the two departments searched the house and after determining no one was inside, they battled the fire and put it out.
Wilber says it appears the fire was electrical in nature. It started in a wall between the dining room and the bathroom. It did burn a hole in the floor on the second story.
Damage estimates stand at $20,000.
