STURGIS – American Legion Post 73 in Sturgis added a wood carved eagle to a tree on the northwest corner of their property.
Mike Barns the Legion’s post commander said they were informed that a decaying tree needs to be taken down.
However, upon further inspection they found the tree still had heathy wood.
Legion members decided to have what was still salvageable of the tree to be carved into an Eagle.
The carving was completed by Pete Leverentz of Carvings by Pete in Three Rivers, Michigan.
The carving faces the Legion’s flagpole.
