Unemployment Rates in Area Michigan Counties Went Up In May

LANSING, MI – Branch County’s unemployment rate in May went up four-tenths of a percent from the previous month to four percent.

According to data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, Branch County had the 13th lowest unemployment rate among Michigan’s 83 counties.

Unemployment rates also went up in other area Michigan counties.

St. Joseph County was at 4.1%, Hillsdale County was at 4.4%, and Calhoun County was at 4.9%.

Michigan’s unemployment rate in May was 4.3 %.
