CENTREVILLE – Sentence has been handed down to a man who plead guilty in the hit and run death of a Three Rivers woman.
St. Joseph County Circuit Court personnel say 27 year old Thomas Stambaugh was sentenced to between 19 and 40 years in prison by Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman. In October, Stambaugh entered a guilty plea to a charge of driving on a suspended license causing death.
Just after 1 PM on June 18, the Three Rivers Police were called to the Three Rivers Meijer Store. Officers and paramedics started to perform life saving measures on 62 year old Laura Jacobs of Three Rivers, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
On July 17, the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team located Stambaugh at a home on Featherstone Road. He was initially charged with absconding parole, with Three Rivers Police requesting the charge of hit and run a few days later.
