GOSHEN – A welfare check led to the arrest of an individual.

Just after 5 PM Tuesday, the Goshen Police Department was sent to 505 Dewey Avenue to do a welfare check, after a 911 call was received, in which the caller says they could hear someone asking for police.

Officers arrived and found 3 people had been in a physical altercation, and a gun had been fired at one of the victims.

Police arrested 42 year old Jose Medina of Goshen. He was taken to the Elkhart County Jail after battering his wife and another man with a firearm.

Both victims had contusions, lacerations and bruising. They were checked out at the scene by medics, but refused any further medical treatment.
