STURGIS - The Sturgis Board of Education received an update on the District's extended COVID-19 learning plan during Monday's study session.

Earlier this year, the Board of Education was presented with a return to learning plan that the school district would use based on the coronavirus pandemic. Sturgis Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert says this plan requires K-8 classes to have bench mark assessments in the first 9 weeks of the school year. The school district will utilize NWEA, which is the test they have used in the past for the students.

Ebert says they must reconfirm the plan every month. It will be looked at by the back to school stake holders group before being brought to the Board of Education. It will report on the attendance, account and accountability requirements in regards to students that are in school room seats and the two way communication with students who are remote.

The Board of Education will be asked to approve the plan during their September 21 meeting.
