Tuesday, September 15, 2020

ANGOLA, IN - The Trine University women's golf team started off its 2020-21 season with a runner-up team finish at the Kyle Campbell Invitational hosted by Olivet (MI). The Thunder had two players finish in the top-five individually to lead Trine to an overall total of 348 strokes to place second of five teams.

Trine women’s golf is scheduled to host a single-round tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 16th at Zollner Golf Course.

After an impressive team performance in 2019-20 that included its first conference championship, the Trine University men's golf team started off its 2020-21 schedule right where it left off with a victory at the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament hosted by Olivet (MI) College at Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek, MI. Individually, three Trine players finished in the top five, including another player who finished in the top 10.

Up next for Trine men's golf will be back-to-back single-round events hosted by Adrian (MI) College beginning on Friday, Sept. 18 at The Grande Golf Course in Jackson, MI. The round is set to begin at noon.

The Trine University women's cross country team got the 2020 season underway by competing in the Wildcat Twilight Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN. Individually, senior Evie Bultemeyer placed fourth overall out of 180 total runners after navigating the 5K course in a time of 18:07.9, setting a school record that was previously held by Rita Weaver (18:35.0).

Senior Jack Beakas finished third overall to help lead the Trine University men's cross country team in the season-opening Wildcat Twilight Invitational. Beakas was one of two Thunder runners to finish in the top-10 and one of three to post a top-15 time. Beakas ran a time of 25:12.7, just over seven seconds behind the leader, to take third place among a field of 214 athletes.

Up next for Trine Cross Country will be the Midwest Intercollegiate hosted by Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. on Friday, Sept. 25. Both races are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. (EST)
