Back on February 2nd at 3:25 P.M., DeKalb County Jail Confinement Officer Julio Alber, 20, of LaGrange discovered an imnate trying to hang himself, and through a valiant effort later saved the inmate from succeeding in the act.

For his heroics, Alber received an award on Monday as he was presented with a Lifesaving Award during a ceremony in the rotunda of the DeKalb County Courthouse at Auburn.

Alber has been working as a confinement officer at the jail for nine months, as it is his first job in law enforcement.
