The Community Foundation DeKalb County is gearing up for its DeKalb County Promise Walk Into My Future Event for 2019 which is set to take place on Friday, September 20th.
The event features 2,200 Children Taking the Walk Into Their Futures at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne. DeKalb County children in Kindergarten to 3rd grades will again step foot on the Ivy Tech Fort Wayne north campus September 20 to learn about careers as well as training and education options beyond high school. This is DeKalb County’s second “Walk” partnering with Ivy Tech Fort Wayne.
The Walk Into My Future, as one component of the community-wide DeKalb County Promise initiative, provides young children with exposure to a wide variety of career options through learning experiences that are hands-on and age-appropriate.
Other components of DeKalb County Promise include families enrolling their children in 529 career savings accounts and teachers reinforcing with children their opportunities for bright futures through career-focused curriculum.
The event will take place from 8:30 A.M. to 2 P.M.
