(CALHOUN COUNTY) – A traffic stop led to the arrest of two men on drug charges following a several month long investigation.
The Southwest Enforcement Team, East Office says during the investigation, detectives conducted numerous undercover buys, purchasing heroin fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
On July 8, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on the suspects, and discovered they had ripped open a large bag containing meth, which completely covered the front area of the vehicle. Approximately one pound of meth was recovered from the vehicle.
SWET Detectives, along with Sheriff’s Deputies and a Michigan State Police K-9 officer executed a search warrant on July 9 at a residence on Avenue A in Springfield Township.
A 37 year old man and a 42 year old man, both from Battle Creek, were arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and resisting and obstructing a police officer, and tampering with evidence and evidence destruction.
Additional charges will be requested based on the undercover buys.
SWET officials say with these arrests, it stopped the distribution of drugs in St. Joseph, Branch and Calhoun Counties.
