KOSCIUSKO COUNTY - A Syracuse man was killed after his car was struck by a train.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department stated at approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28 an SUV was stopped on the railroad tracks by Bishop Road.
The driver did not move his car and was struck by the train that then pushed the SUV a mile west of the initial collision.
The driver of the SUV was identified ad Stephen Schmahl, 55, of Syracuse.
Authorities noted no other occupants were inside of the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
