ANGOLA - The results of a recent water study Angola City officials put in motion are back.
A water availability study conducted in Steuben County in and around the city of Angola shows a minimum water surplus of 5 million gallons a day of water.
Angola officials hired INTERA, an environmental and water resources consulting firm based in Austin, Texas, to do a water study near the city.
Officials say "excess water availability is a measure of how much more water can be withdrawn from the hydrologic system without negatively impacting the system."
The most recent measurement is above the amount of water currently withdrawn according to officials who conducted the study.
The study shows that overall water availability varies by season and by year.
Availability in the future can only be "inferred from the past."
Moving forward, INTERA suggests installing acoustic sensors and telemetry on 6 to 10 well installations, in and outside of Angola for four years.
