ANGOLA, IN - Before the holiday season of thanks and giving started, Steuben County stepped up again to help Cops For Kids.
This year the annual WLKI Cops For Kids Pie Auction raised a growing total of $64, 776 on Wednesday.
100% of the money will stay in Steuben County and help local children and their families who are experiencing hardships have a better Christmas. A shopping event with local emergency personal on December 8th will ensure that children identified by schools at Angola, Fremont, Hamilton, and Prairie Heights will have the warm cloths they need for winter.
The Angola Walmart donated 5,000 cash among many other things that will help Cops For Kids this year.
Many people made drive thru donations at the Steuben County Community Foundation located at the Country Fair Shopping Center. Anyone who made a donation at the SCCF (in any amount) received a free pie, donated by Walmart.
Over 120 local businesses and organizations in and around Steuben County donated pies made for the auction, with many of them and countless others placing bids on pies that ranged in final bids from $50 to over $5,000 each.
The winning pie, made by Vestil Manufacturing, sold for $5,190. It was purchased by Team Vestil Come Work For Us.
