(DEKALB COUNTY) – Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in a one vehicle crash that injured a Butler man.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says at 10:05 PM on Sunday, an automobile was driving south on County Road 61, approaching a curve in the roadway at the intersection of County Road 22. The vehicle entered the curve at a high rate of speed and the passenger side tired left the road and went into the ditch.
The driver, 22 year old Mathew Curey of Butler, attempted to correct the vehicle back onto the roadway, but caused the auto to overturn on its driver’s side. The vehicle slid south on County Road 61 before flipping back on its tires.
The automobile went into a field on the west side of the road, then back on the roadway before continuing north on County Road 61. It went off the roadway again and finally stopped.
Curey suffered injuries to the head and was taken to an area hospital.
