(QUINCY) – Health officials are still not sure what caused student illnesses earlier this year in the Quincy Schools.

Quincy School officials received a report in August from the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency. In that report, the CHA announced that they were unable to determine a common cause for the illnesses.

Two parents contacted the CHA after their children reportedly had tremors, seizures, twitches and ticks. The matter was also brought to the attention of the Quincy Board of Education.

As part of their investigation, the CHA reviewed reports and medical information on the students. In the final report by the CHA, they determined that after a review of the available environmental and medical information by State and Local public health staff along with two independent physicians, the CHA did not find any evidence of a common environmental exposure or an infectious process among students reporting unexpected health issues.

The investigation focused completely on environmental health within the school and potential communicable diseases.
