A Goshen man is dead from injuries he sustained in a two vehicle crash.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office, 28 year old Sergio Salazar of Goshen was driving north on U.S. 33, south of County Road 33 just after 7:30 Tuesday night. Deputies say traffic was congested. A second vehicle, driven by 50 year old Gabina De Esparaza of Ligonier was traveling south on U.S. 33.
Investigators say Salazar passed a vehicle on the right on the shoulder of the road. As Salazar returned to the road, he lost control of his vehicle and slide sideways into oncoming traffic, and directly in front of Esparaza.
The front of Esparaza's vehicle struck Salazar's automobile in the middle on the passenger's side, compressing the vehicle and Salazar sustained fatal injuries.
Esparaza complained of chest pains. The incident is still under investigation.
