ANGOLA, IN - During a committee meeting this week with city leaders the Angola police chief and fire chief both explained the need for more staff due to increasing duties.

Angola Police Chief Ken Whitmire asked the committee to add two additional officers for next year's budget. While committee members agreed that the city would benefit from two additional officers, they discussed that the city may not be able to afford hiring both at once.

Angola Fire Chief T.R. Haggerty asked the committee to consider budgeting for three additional firefighters for next year. Haggerty explained that the fire department is understaffed for the area it covers.

Both staffing requests were sent to the Angola Common Council for funding approval.
