The Fremont Lady Eagle softball team started to defend their 1A sectional title Monday night by defeating Bethany Christian 8-0.

Fremont's Autumn Godwin tied the school record for strikeouts in a game by fanning 18 Bruin hitters. She also surpassed 500 strikeouts for her career.

The Lady Eagles now advance to the sectional championship game on Thursday (6:00 PM) against the winner of Tuesday night's Lakewood Park and Elkhart Christian game held at Fremont.


Note: The Lady Eagles Softball team has already made school history this season. For the first time in school history they have won the NECC Conference Championship
