Four Trine University students have been nominated for the Intern of the Year award to be presented at the 12th Annual IMPACT Awards Luncheon on Feb. 7.

Hosted by Indiana INTERNnet, a free internship-matching program managed by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the awards luncheon is an annual celebration of internship excellence. Awards are presented for Intern of the Year, Employer of the Year and Career Development Professional of the Year, with Intern of the Year awards given in high school, college and non-traditional student categories.

Nominations are submitted by the public and winners are chosen by a group of impartial judges, most of whom are Indiana INTERNnet Board Members. Individuals and organizations are nominated for their leadership, hard work and ingenuity in their internships and intern programs.

Winners will receive an engraved award and a digital badge to display on websites, marketing materials, social media sites, etc. Winners also will be featured in a press release, blog posts, nominations webpage, newsletter and BizVoice Magazine.

The event is sponsored by Ivy Tech Community College and will be held in the Ivy Tech Corporate College and Culinary Center in Indianapolis.

Chris Heeter, award-winning speaker and founder of The Wild Institute, will deliver the keynote address, "Guiding the Team to Success." Featured on The Discovery Channel's "National Geographic Today," Heeter brings decades of leadership experience indoors, combining business expertise with hilarious stories from her sled dog team and experience as a whitewater trip guide, as she works with teams and leaders to recognize that leadership and teamwork don't have to be so complicated.

Formed in 2001, Indiana INTERNnet links employers, students, high schools, colleges and universities with a goal of helping to create or expand high-quality experiential opportunities within Indiana. The Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce initiated and operated the program in partnership with the University of Indianapolis. With continued funding from the Lilly Endowment, the organization was granted 501(c)3 tax exempt status in May 2004 and moved to the Indiana Chamber, the state's largest business advocacy organization.
