A man driving a moped was killed Saturday night in an accident near Angola.
According to a news release from the Steuben County Sheriff's Department, emergency crews were called just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday on a report of a vehicle crash on County Road 200 West just north of US Highway 20.
Upon arrival, investigators determined a southbound car driven by Robert Watson, age 38, of Angola, collided with a northbound moped driven by Duane Boyles, age 65, of Angola.
Reports indicate that Boyles was pronounced dead at the scene by the Steuben County Coroner’s Office due to traumatic injuries. Boyles was not wearing a helmet.
Watson was uninjured in the crash.
Authorities report that it is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs are a factor in the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting at the Steuben County Sheriff's Department at the scene were the Angola Police Department, Angola Fire/Rescue, Steuben County Coroner’s Office, and Steuben County EMS.
