INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indiana Department of Health's contact tracers will now only contact COVID-19-positive patients, and as well as ask those patients to reach out on their own to their close contacts.
Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb and state health commissioner Dr. Kristina Box said in their weekly coronavirus briefing that county contact tracers were told to shorten their scripts when calling positive patients.
State leaders are also making plans for the first arrival of coronavirus vaccines and how they distribute it. The first people to get the coronavirus vaccine in Indiana will be front-line health care workers, as well as staff and residents of nursing homes.
More of the state's plans to distribute vaccines will be outlined next week.
Governor Eric Holcomb said the state is bracing for expected new infections linked to Thanksgiving gatherings. The state's seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 deaths has now reached 60 per day.
