STURGIS – The Sturgis Area Community Foundation is calling their 2020 Giving Tuesday event a success.
During a day long broadcast on Super Hits 99.3, WBET, the Sturgis Area Community Foundation awarded $113,885 to 33 local non profit organizations. The community was asked to send in nominations to the Foundation on who they would like to see the money go to.
Foundation Executive Director Lindsay Richardson says this idea came from the Foundation and its Board recognizing that his year has been difficult for local non profits. She says the Foundation continues to discuss what are the immediate needs and the emerging needs of the community.
In addition to it being Giving Tuesday, the Sturgis Foundation was also doing a Match Day event. People could pledge money and the Foundation would match it dollar for dollar up to the first $1,000. Richardson says these monies will make a big difference and give the Foundation the flexibility to respond to some of the most pressing community needs and opportunities. Richardson thanks those that made a gift to the funds.
Richardson says that a total amount for Match Day will be released at a later time.
