Indiana BMV Denies Federal Request For License Info
Friday, November 22, 2019

In what some consider a controversial move, the State of Indiana is denying a request from the federal government to turn over the driver’s license information of Hoosiers to the White House.

The Trump Administration is asking that states turn over driver’s license information as part of an effort to find people who are in the country illegally.

However, officials from Indiana say they will not agree to such a request, and are not reporting why. It is a decision that is in line with one made in 2017 by Secretary of State Connie Lawson, in which she refused to turn over the state’s voter information to a Trump-appointed commission investigating claims of voter fraud.

The state of Nebraska became the first state to hand over its license information to the White House on Thursday.
