Stomp Out The Stigma 5K Goes Virtual
Thursday, October 1, 2020
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and to ensure social distancing, New Hope Clubhouse has converted its annual Stomp Out the Stigma event to a virtual 5K. 2020 is the eighth running for the event, which has grown steadily every year.
The annual 5K is usually held in September at Bixler Lake Park in Kendallville, IN. Due to Covid-19 concerns, this year's event will take place during the month of October, and participants will be able to complete the 5K on their own time and any course they choose. In 2019 over 160 runners and walkers participated in the event. The 2020 virtual event will allow participation from anywhere on the globe.
The Stomp Out the Stigma event raises awareness of the stigma surrounding mental illness as well as raises funds for the New Hope Clubhouse Educational Unit. "Clubhouse members are thankful for the continued support from area businesses and individuals in our community," says New Hope Clubhouse Director Bambee Lehman.
With over 100 members, New Hope Clubhouse, located in Kendallville, IN, assists men and women recovering from mental illness and promotes recovery through work and meaningful relationships. The Clubhouse is a part of Northeastern Center and serves residents of Noble, DeKalb, LaGrange, and Steuben counties.
